Description:
Cerazette is a hormonal contraceptive referred to as “the mini pill” or progesterone only pills. The active ingredient in Cerazette is desogestrel, which a synthetic form of progesterone. The esogestrel present in Cerazette works by preventing a woman from ovulating. The contraceptive also increases the thickness of mucus at the neck of the womb. This makes it difficult for sperm to enter the womb. In addition, desogestrel causes changes in the endometrium (lining of the womb), which prevents any fertilized eggs from sticking to the womb. Begin using Cerazette (Desogestrel) on the first day of your menstrual cycle. In order to be fully effective, Cerazette should be taken on a daily basis at approximately the same time. If you forget to take a pill, do so as soon as you remember and then go back to your regularly scheduled dosing.
